Show MOONLIGHT HIKERS SCALE NEBO SEPT. 19 Wasatch Mountain Club Arranges Ar-ranges Annual Night Climb of Mount Nebo The Wasatch Mountain club will conduct its annual Moonlight Climb of Mt. Nebo Saturday night, Sept. 19-20. Those leaving the Salt Creek Banger station at 8 p. m. will stop at the Spring about half way up and enjoy a rest of two or three hours before proceeding to the top for the sunrise. A later party will leave the cabin about twelve o'clock and make the entire trip without a stop of any length. Dr, L. D. Pfoutz of Pay-son Pay-son will net ns guide for these, and Albert D'Isep, the Swiss Alpine guide, will conduct the first contingent. con-tingent. The autumn colorings are at the best, the trail has had some improvements, im-provements, and all points to a most successful climb. "Mt. Nebo is the second highest peak of the Wasatch, marks the end of that range on the south, and is a very distinctive mountain," said Dr. Pfoutz. "There are three peaks in the mountain proper, and one to Vhe north and a little east, all w-ell alxive the timberline. The scaling of all these will be attempted by some of the more hardy of the membership. Heretofore none of the gentler sex has dared to try, but this year half a dozen have signified signi-fied a desire to attempt it. The ones who do this will have to have some nerve, and a steady head. I made the trip across the 'Sheer' some years ago and it gives a thrill to look down off the high rocky skyline over the boulder-strewn cirques." A general invitation has been issued is-sued to Jill out-door enthusiasts to join with the club in this event. |
