Show Young Couple Speak Nuptial Vokvs In Salt Lake Temple Monday , : : MRS. SUMSION FETED AT BRIDGE PARTY Mrs. Belle Sumsion was guest of honor at a surprise party given by her daughters, Elsie, Teressa and Lucille, at their home Friday night. Contract bridge was played, with the prize going to Mrs. Cle-onda Cle-onda Miner. ' A delicious luncheon was served serv-ed from tables centered with pink roses to the following ladies: Mrs. Cleonda Miner, Mrs. Meda Evans, Mrs. Flora Hatfield, Mrs. Thelma Clark, Mrs. Crystal Poulson, Mrs. Jennie Brown, and Mrs. Lela Nelson. Miss Beth Carter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Carter of Orem, became the bride of William Wil-liam R. Butler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Butler of Provo, Monday in the Salt Lake temple, with President Stephen L. Chip-man Chip-man officiating. The bride is a graduate of the Lincoln high school. Mr. Butler has been employed in the printing department of the Art City Publishing company during dur-ing the past six months. A number of social events honoring hon-oring the young couple are planned plan-ned to take place this week. They will make their home in Springville. MOTHERS STUDY CLUB ENTERTAINED Mrs. Minette Bird was hostess to members of the Mothers' Study club Friday at her home, assisted by her two daughters, Martha Bird and Mrs. Margaret Williams. President Gladys Boyer was in charge of the program, which included in-cluded a vocal duet by Winifred Garnick and Dorothy Van Schaack, accompanied by Louise Clyde, and a review of the book, "Demon Daughter," by Honore Morrow, given in an interesting manner by Mrs. Mae Huntington. Daity refreshments were served in conclusion to twenty-two members. LA ME NT A CLUB MEMBERS ENTERTAINED Mr. and Mrs. Tadd Giles entertained enter-tained members of La Menta club at their home Saturday night. A lively discussion of current topics of interest provided the entertainment en-tertainment for the evening and in conclusion luncheon was served to the following: Mr. and Mrs. Dan Evans of Spanish Fork, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Barker, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Hone, and the host and hostess. BIRDS ENTERTAIN GUESTS AT DINNER Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Bird entertained enter-tained at dinner at their home Sunday, with covers being laid for the following guests: Mrs. Nida Boswell and her son and daughter daugh-ter of Brigham City; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Smith, Halestone, Utah; Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Mel-drum, Mel-drum, Mr. and Mrs. Del Mar Carter, Car-ter, and Mr. and Mrs. Jay Smith and their families of Provo, and Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Mackley of Mapleton. MAPLETON RELIEF SOCIETY HAS OPENING SOCIAL The Mapleton Relief society members held their opening social Tuesday in the Mapleton hall, with approximately seventy ladies attending. An excellent program was given, giv-en, and refreshments were served. LA JOLIE CLUB ENTERTAINED THURSDAY Mrs. Evelyn Boyer was hostess to members of La Jolie club at her home Thursday night. Plans for the coming year were discussed during the evening by the following members who were present: Mrs. Harriet Miner, Mrs. Fay Hansen, Mrs. Billie Burt, Mrs. Madge Crandall, Mrs. Lucille Smith, and Mrs. Helen Spafford. BIRTHDAY DINNER HONORS O. E. GILES A surprise birthday party was given Wednesday in honor of O. E. Giles at his home. Dinner was served at one long table to the following: Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Gurr, Mr. and Mrs. Nello Rowley, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Mar-vin Naylor, Mr. and Mrs. Tad Giles, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Olsen, and Lawanna, Milton, and Audrey Giles. The entire group presented Mr. Giles with a lovely birthday gift. RELIEF SOCIETY HAS PARTY AT MAPLETON A party was given by the Mapleton Ma-pleton Relief society officers Friday Fri-day night at the home of Mrs. Sadie Whiting, president, for the class leaders and activity committee commit-tee in appreciation for what they have accomplished during the past year. Progressive games were played during the evening, and a delicious deli-cious luncheon was served. The following were present: Olive Whiting, Ardilla Perry, Hnt-tie Hnt-tie Jensen, Eva Bird, Harriet Nelson, Ella Bird, Algea Mackley, Vanda Jensen, Priscllla Leroy, Martha Whiting, Arlena Hadley, Mary Whiting, Millie Bird, Jennie Tew, Viola Allan, Inez Harmer, and Mrs. Ruth Anderson of Mt. Pleasant was a special guest. BUSY CIRCLE CLUB ENTERTAINED Members of the Busy Circle club spent an enjoyable afternoon Friday Fri-day at the home of Mrs. Ethel Phillips. A delicious luncheon was served serv-ed to Mrs. Nellie Bertlesen, Mrs. Sylvia Allan, Mrs. Elsie Childs, Mrs. Hattle Allan, Mrs. Maude Nielson, Mrs. Bert Brammall, Mrs. Blanche Nielson, Mrs. Madge Allan, Al-lan, and the hostess. Mrs. Peery of Salt Lake City, sister of Mrs. Phillips, was a special guest. LA MENTA CLUB ENTERTAINED Members of La Menta club were entertained Saturday evening at the home of Mrs. Dan Evans in Spanish Fork. After a delicious luncheon was served, the game "Po-keeno' was played as the diversion of the evening. eve-ning. Club members present were Mr. and Mrs. Leo Hone, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Barker, Mr. and Mrs. Tad Giles, and the hoBt and hostess. WASHINGTON VISITOR FKTF.D AT DINNER PARTY Mr. and Mrfl. Leon W. Harrison entertained at dinner in honor of Mrs. Harrison's brother, Robert, who Is visiting here from Washington, Wash-ington, D. C. Other guests were Miss Dorothy Dixon of Ogden, Verl Harrison and Mr. and Mrs. George Harrison. Har-rison. Verl Harrison will accompany the gueBt of honor on his return to Washington next week. |
