Show i Couple to Live in California After Temple Ceremonv. Home Retention 1 . Lovely in every detail was the reception given Friday evening to honor newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Uwen W. Sumsion, who were married earlier in tfm day in the Salt Lake Temple. After the ceremony, performed by Robert E. Young, the bride and groom were honored at a wedding breakfast at the Beau Brummel cafe in Salt Lake City with the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen W. Sumsion acting as host and hostess. The wedding party included in-cluded besides the bride and groom and their parents, Mrs. Maria K. Johansen, aunt of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Sumsion, grandparents; grand-parents; Reed Bird, uncle; Rea Straw, aunt; Robert Sumsion and Richard Sumsion, brothers of the groom. In the evening guests were received re-ceived at the home of the groom's parents, and after viewing the bride's trousseau and gifts, were conducted through the beautiful lighted garden of the Sumsion home into that of the grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Willis Sumsion and into their home where refreshments refresh-ments were served and musical numbers given. The bride, daughter of Mrs. John W. Alleman of this city, was gowned in an exquisite model of imported Chantilly lace with full court train and V-neck. Of candlelight candle-light satin, the skirt opened from the waist down to reveal a satin underskirt with scalloped edges following the pattern of the lace. Her veil of sheer illusion was caught to her head with clusters of orange blossoms and she carried a white Bible on which was a single orchid with streamers knotted knot-ted with stephonotis. She wore a strand of pearls given her mother by her father on their wedding day and a beautiful watch, .Owen's wedding gift to her. Miss Martha Bird was maid of honor to the bride and Phyllis Condie,, Flora Fietkau and Roberta Smith were bridesmaids. Gowned in pastel formals they held tiny fans at the base of which was a cluster of pom pom chrysanthemums chrysanthe-mums centered with gardenias. For her daughter's .reception, Mrs. Alleman chose a gown of 'powder blue lace and Mrs. Sumsion Sum-sion wore aqua with lace trim. Their corsages were in accenting colors. Karl Alleman, brother of the bride, stood in the line and Robert Sumsion, brother of the groom was best man. Tiny Susanne Alleman in blue organdy and Kathleen Russell in yellow were flower girls and Johnny John-ny Alleman, in a white linen suit, was trainbearer. Morris Patrick and Richard Sumsion were ushers and Mr. and Mrs. Willis Sumsion, grandparents, received the guests. Mrs. Glen Russell was hostess in the trousseau trous-seau room and Mrs. Darl Dauwal-der, Dauwal-der, Hortense Harrison and Mrs. Bert Miner were in charge of the gift room assisted by Michael Sumsion. Merry Metcalf and Janice Jan-ice Sargent were in charge of the guest book. Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Johansen welcomed the guests together with Mrs. Burton Groesbeck and serving serv-ing was done on the patio of the adjoining Willis Sumsion home under the direction of Maria Johnson, John-son, Mrs. Lula Mendenhall, Mrs. Margaret Miner and Mrs. Howard Sumsion. While guests were being served by Harriet Whiting, Shirley Russell, Rus-sell, Janet Groesbeck, Karen Alleman Alle-man and Darla Robbins, a musical program was given, under the direction of Rea Straw. Mrs. Maurice Maur-ice Bird played medleys on the solovox and piano; Reed Miner gave vocal solos as did Mrs. Ernest Boyer and Mrs. Blaine Wheeler and Mrs. Leonard Zobell. Accompanists Accomp-anists were Mrs. Merle Sargent, Mrs. LeRoy Erickson and Mrs. Bird. Special lighting effects in the garden and other decorative details de-tails were arranged by Zina Johnson. John-son. The couple left after the reception recep-tion on a honeymoon to the parks of Southern Utah and scenic spots in California. They will return to Springville and Owen will go to school in Chicago for three weeks and they will then go to Long Beach, Calif., to make their home. |
