The Red Devils played Mountain View on Tuesday and Orem on Thursday; each of those teams were rights on Spririgyille's tailrvy ing for a spot at the state tournament. j . It was either win and you're in for the Red Devils, or lose and hope for the best. In the Tuesday game against Mountain View Coach Kitchen benched his varsity starters in the third quarter amidst a 24-6 bruin run, and it was looking like the Red Devils were1 going go-ing to be blown off the court. But, as soon as the five inspired players play-ers returned to the game (unfortunately for Mountain View) they went to work. Springville Spring-ville showed that they had heard the coach's message loud and clear as they outscored the Bruins 37-24 in the last fourteen minutes for a dramatic 2 point victory, 65-63. Springville Mon Sat 6am-11pm Closed Sunday - Daniel Foster led all scorers with 27 points, to go along with Dustin Day's 13. In the Thursday game against Orem it was deja Vu all over again as the Tigers built up a ten-point halftime lead. Springville once again decided to wake up in the second half and made things close. But it was not until the end, of the third quarter that the Red Devils went on an 8-2 8-2 run. Then the stifling defense of Springville took over and they won 57-53 with two clutch free throws at the end by Brad Kohler. Michael Salazar led all scorers in that game with 21 points followed by Alex Mortensen with 11, and Brad Kohler with ten points and fifteen rebounds. re-bounds.
