Show Former resident dies on coast Word has been received of the death of Karl Grant Houtz 63, former resident of Spring-ville, Spring-ville, at Monterey, Calif. Mr Houtz suffered an apparent heart attack while attending a car racing event in Monterey. He was a cousin of Mrs. Mary Smart, Springville. He was born in Springville, and graduated from the University Uni-versity of California with a degree de-gree in architecture. He also received a B. E. in teaching from Santa Barbara State College, Col-lege, and M. A. in education at USC. Mr. Houtz taught industrial arts and driver training in the Los Angeles schools from- 1935 to 1960, when he retired and moved to Fallbrook, Calif. He was a member of the Golden Bown Masonic Lodge No. 755, F and AM of South Gate, Calif., and was past pa- tron of OES Chapeter No. 390 of Fallbrook. Surviving are his widow, Margaret A. Houtz of Fallbrook; Fall-brook; one daughter, Karel H. Peer of Menlo Park, Calif., one grandchild and a brother, Dr. Ray C. Houtz of Minona, Minn. Funeral services were conducted con-ducted at the Skylawn Memorial Mem-orial Gardens Park in Belmont, Calif. |
