Show SERVICE HELD MONDAY FOR S. L. MENDENHALL Many friends and relatives paid final tributes of respect to the life of Seymour L. Mendenhall, at funeral services conducted Monday Mon-day afternoon in the Fourth ward chapel. Mr. Mendenhall died unexpectedly un-expectedly of a cerebral hemorrhage hemorrh-age early Friday, at the family residence, 186 East Second North street. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery, directed by A. Y. Wheeler Wheel-er and Son mortuary. He was born in Springvjlle, February 19, 1896, a son .of S. L. and Mary Lamb Mendenhall. He had made his home here always and had taken an active part in church and civic affairs. He was for some time manager of Dixon-Taylor-Russell company store in Springville and later worked as assistant cashier for the Mendenhall Banking company. After the bank business was sold, he was employed as superintendent superin-tendent of construction for the W. W. Clyde Construction company com-pany for about 13 years. At the time of death, he was manager of the local Brookside Realty. He was a member of the local Lions club. A leader in L. D. S. church work throughout most of his life, he was known as an outstanding teacher of church principles and had been an instructor in many of the church auxiliary organizations. organiza-tions. In his earlier life, he filled two missions, one to the northern states and another in the western states. He served four years as bishop of the Fourth ward and ' prior to holding that office, he was a bishop's councilor seven years. At the time of death, he was an alternate member of fcolob stake High Priests. He married Lula Crandall, September Sep-tember 5, 1917, in the Salt Lake temple. In addition to his widow, he is survived by his mother of Springville; a daughter and two sons, Mrs. Merlynne Mendenhall, Boston, Mass.; Keith Mendenhall, Ogden; Russell Mendenhall, of Springville; also two grandchildren; grandchil-dren; two sisters, Mrs. H. M. Weight, Springville. and Mrs. j Richard P. Condie, Salt Lake City. |
