Show 4 DIE AS MAN GOES BERSERK EAST TAWAS, Mich., July 3 (U.Ht A. J. Wood, 53. East Tawaa was to be arraigned today on I first degree murder warrants, charged with the slaying Sunday night of four persons and the seriously wounding of one other, following a yachting party which he claimed interrupted his sleep. The dead: j group of yachtsmen, was held in the house accupied by Arthur A. Janeon, Wood's son-in-law. As the guests were leaving, Wood appeared ap-peared with his shotgun. He encountered en-countered Dr. Somers upstairs and killed him instantly. Trapping Trap-ping the Hayes couple inside the house he blew off both of the man's arms and shot Mrs. Hayes in the breast. Both died a short time later. Roy Hickey, a guest in the home attempted to escape through the bathroom. Wood fired twice through the locked door. The charge struck Hickey in the arm. Hickey . then jumped to safetly through a window. Sheriff Miller, attracted to the house by the shooting, approached approach-ed the rear of the house. Wood suddenly appeared, opened fire and fatally wounded the sheriff. Sheriff Charles C. Miller, 38, Iosco county; Mr. Stanley Somers, Som-ers, 31; Lloyd Hayen, 35, and Mrs. Lloyd Hayes, 31. Roy Hickey, East Tawas, was injured seriously serious-ly by the gun fire. Wood surrendered at the county coun-ty jail shortly after the shooting..
