Show f EVAPORATION TESTS Two copper manikins are being used to study the effects of air motion on evaporation. The manikins are situated in a controlled temperature chamber. The cables running from each dummy's eye sockets provide power for heat as well as sensors to measure "skin" temperature. temper-ature. The test, run at the U. S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine, Natick, Mass., determines the insulation in-sulation provided by a given fabric. Perspiration from the manikin on the left is evaporating from its "cotton skin" while perspiration from the manikin on the right must pass through the uniform being worn. |
