Show Fishing season opens Saturday; plantings pending high waters Annual opening of Utan's fishing season will be Saturday, May 31 in most areas as thousands thous-ands of anglers prepare to go afield for the big day. New trespass laws are in effect ef-fect this year and Fish and Game Director Bud Phelps asks the cooperation of anglers to respect private property and gain permission before entering upon private lands this summer. The fishermen are urged to read and observe the signs post- ed around lakes and streams and do not litter, but leave a clean camp, lake or stream side and roadway wherever you go. Waters in the right fork of Hobble Creek will probably be planted but in Diamond Fork probably the small stream on the upper end will be planted. The lower Provo will be ready with catchable rainbow. Spanish Fork River is expected to be poor due to runoff. Pay-son Pay-son lake is rated excellent for rainbow and brook trout. Many other waters will be considered questionable due to the high runoff. Provo River below Deer Creek is high but should be planted for the opening with fair fishing forecast. Spring Creek may be stocked and Mill Pond will be stocked and should prove fair fishing. |
