Of interest to 'her friends here, is announcement of the engagement engage-ment of Miss Etta Livingston, daughter of Mrs. Mary Livingston of Provo, formerly of this city, to Gidman Ivan Dingman, "Jack Angus," son of Mrs. Wilford Angus An-gus of Spanish Fork, the marriage to take place September 22, in. the First ward chapel at Provo, with a reception, to follow, for about 400 . relatives and friends. The couple plan to leave after their marriage for San Diego, Calif., to make their home. Mrs. Evelyn Boyer was 'hostess to the La'Jo Le club at her home Thursday evening. The entertainment entertain-ment was carried out in a cleverly clever-ly arranged European style with decorations, the luncheon favors and card prizes emphasizing the general theme. A special feature of the evening's entertainment was an interesting review of 'her recent trip to Europe given by Miss Venice Whiting. The affair was complimentary to the mothers of the girls and marked the opening of regular j class activity for the year. A large representation of class members anil mothers attended. Dur- ing the evening the Misses Aleen 1; Condie and Phylis Smart enter tained with instrumental music. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Phillips accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Friel and Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Grant accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Ed Johnson left Saturday : and Sunday respectively to attend ,i the National Legion and Auxiliary convention at Los Angeles, Calif., : the coming week. Mr. and Mrs. Phillips and Mr. and. Mrs. Friel planned to spend a short time at Boulder dam and return" by way of San Francisco. Mrs. Emma Gardner and son J. X. left the past week to join Mr. Gardner and make their home in Ogden for the winer. A large number of relatives and close friends went to Payson Friday evening to atend the wed-drr.' wed-drr.' reception for Lamar Weight, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Weight of this city and Miss Ruth Hill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Hill of Payson. A wedding supper was also held for the couple on Thursday evening at the home of the bride's parents par-ents for members of the two immediate families. Members of the Ladies' Literary Liter-ary club will be guests of Mrs. Bess Mendenhall on Thursday, Sept. 22, beginning at 7:30 o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Miner accompanied ac-companied by their two daughters, daugh-ters, Mrs. Frank Jensen of Maple-ton Maple-ton and Mrs. Dick Wright of Salt Lake City and their husbands have just returned from a delightful de-lightful vacation trip to the canyons can-yons of southern Utah. They also visited the St. George temple and were especially impressed with the recent renovation and remodeling of the building. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Wright (nee Marian Miner) of Salt Lake City, left recently to make their home in Sugar City, Idaho. Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Stone of Mapleton, announce the engagement engage-ment of their daughter, Marie, to Walter Robinson Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Robinson of Springville, the marriage to take place in the near future. The Novelty Circle pledge ceremonial cere-monial was held at the home of President Marjorie Child on Sunday, Sun-day, with Frances Tuttle, Nedra Beal, Yvonne Child and Hazel Bray assisting. The following new members were pledged: Merlyn Mendenhall, Virginia and Genevieve Gene-vieve Bird, Helen Nelson, Helen Tipton, La Vern Hone and Pri-cella Pri-cella Gudmundsen. The ceremony consisted of a round table discussion discus-sion of future plans to better the club. Each member then read the pledge and placed a lighted candle around a large "N" within a circle as a sealing of the pledge. The girls were in semi-formal dresses. Refreshments concluded the entertainment and all enjoyed social chat. Miss Eva Elaine Nielson of this city and Doyle C. Shepherd of Spanish Fork were granted a license to wed last week at the county court house. Members of the Alpha Beta I club will be entertained Friday afternoon, at the home of Mis. David Reece in Provo. All are urged to attend. Berne Kindred of Tooele, spent the week end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John R. Kindred in this city. A delightful party featuring games and a dainty lunch was given at the home of Miss Janice Clark for a number of friends, Satui'day evening. Springville 4-H club leaders met at the home of Mrs. J. C. Nielson, supervisor, Monday evening, in the form of a business meeting and social. Details for the program pro-gram at the achievement exercises exer-cises on Thursday night, were worked out and refreshments were served in conclusion. Carol Condie has spent the past few weeks with relatives at Reno, Nevada. She expects to return home soon. Mr. and Mrs. Harvard Osmund and children have gone to Denver to spend an indefinite time following fol-lowing a visit here with Mrs. Osmund's Os-mund's mother, Mrs. G. S. Condie and other relatives. Grant Nielson left Sunday on -a business trip to Nebraska. He expects to be gone several months. Mr, and Mrs. Clarence Lewis and children have returned to their home in Overton, Nevada, following a visit with relatives and friends here. Mr. and Mrs. Rulan Earl (nee Esther Maycock) and children have returned to their home in Washington, Wash-ington, D. C. Following several weeks' visit with the tatter's mother, Mrs. Lena Maycock, and other relatives in Springville and Provo. Members of the Ladies' Literary club were delightfully entertained at their first meeting of the year at the home of Mrs. Mae Groes-beck. Groes-beck. Following a tasty lunch, President Rea Straw welcomed the members and guests, the latter lat-ter including Mrs. Victor Frand-sen, Frand-sen, Miss Thora Whiting, Mrs. Bell Thomas. Mrs. Hannah Cal-lister, Cal-lister, a former club member, was also welcomed back to the club. Miss -Whiting entertained with vocal solos, accompanied by Mrs. Thomas, after which Mrs. Blanch Beal gave in splendid manner, a review of the. book, "The Yearling" by iMargaret Kennin Rawlings. There were 22 members and guests in attendance. Mrs. H. V. Blackett of this city recently returned to her home from the L. D. S. hospital where she has been under treatment for three weeks. She is reported improved. im-proved. Mrs. Harold Johnson and son, Dick, were recent visitors at the home of friends in Cedar . City. One of the recent lovely autumn aut-umn parties was that given by Misses Pearl and Anna Starr for a group of friends. Following a nicely arranged buffet supper, bridge was played with prizes for - the evening's games going to Mrs. Floss Phillip and Mrs. Merrill C. Young of Elko, Nev. The rooms were beautifully decorated dec-orated with roses and black-eyed Susans formed an attractive centerpiece cen-terpiece for the serving table, which was covered with a lovely lace cloth. Guests included Mrs. Alene D. Price, Provo, Mrs. Ethel Weight, Mrs. Kenneth Condie, Mrs. Emma' Gardner, Miss Myrtle Childs, Mrs. Inez Bird, Mrs. Young and Mrs. Phillips. Complimentary to Miss Mildred Parry, her mother, Mrs. Will Parry entertained "the gang," at a nicely arranged dinner at their home on Monday evening. A beautiful birthday cake decorated dec-orated in w'hite and pink centered the dining table. Following dinner, din-ner, the girls spent a delightful time telling of their summer vacations va-cations and plans for the coming year at college. Miss Verona Condie who is doing nursing work at Afton, Wyoming, spent the past week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Condie. Miss Condie is recovering re-covering from a recent appendicitis appendi-citis operation. She was accompanied accom-panied on the return by her brother, broth-er, Arthur Condie, who will visit at Afton with Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Ver-non Condie.
