Show BUSINESS IS DWAWS TOPIC j AT SPRINGVILLE Dean H. V. Hoyt Addresses f Knvanians on Better Business Busi-ness Methods. "Better Business" was the subject of n talk given by Dean It. V .Hoyt uf the B. V. university before the SpringviUo Kiwanis club at the regular reg-ular luncheon held at the high si-hool. The build-iijg build-iijg operations last Juno exceeded any six months previous to the year prjl. bur it is not satisfactory because be-cause volume is not bettor business unless it is founded on sound business busi-ness and not inflation." In referring to business methods he said. "The best business man is the nian who takes advantage of all the natural resources but under un-der all our business relations the 'Golden Rule' should be followed which means a 'Square Deal.' There is hardly a man but who will demand de-mand a square deal, he continued and our laws in the majority of cases are to force people to give a square deal'. A couple deal must be coupled up with service he said And the buyer must be left better off by the salesman. In summing up the qualities of a good salesman he said courtesy is one thing he must have and kindness is another. He must discipline himself in a way and mauned in which he can- serve the public. He must discipline himself in the matter of being kind, giving a fair deal, justice and service. A man can accumulate a million dollars dol-lars and not impoverish a single family." President M. O. Packard was master of ceremonies and Wm. Phillips acted as toastmaster. The attendance prizes were awarded to C. R. Jones and S. L. Mendenhall. Five names were submitted and passed on to become new members of the club: Lovell Mendenhall, John I: Holley and J. C. Nielson all of Mapletou and John W. Alleman and Wilford W. Clyde of Spriug-ville Spriug-ville After hearing a report from H. T. Reynolds representing the committee commit-tee on the Springville Building and Loan association to the effect that only 13,000 had been subscribed toward the proposed organization, comments were made by A . L . Thorpe. M. O. Packard, C. R. Jones. John R. Anderson, M. E. Craudall, Jr., and George A. Anderson after which the motion passed that every member of the club would act as a committee, the town districted and a house-to-house canvass be made. C. R. Jones gave a short talk about "On to Colorado to the International Inter-national Convention." Mrs. M W. Merrill, Mrs. Ray Ol-pin, Ol-pin, Elton Sumner, H. V. Hoyt and A. J. Jacobsen all of Provo were introduced in-troduced as guests. The community singing was led by M. E. Crandall, Jr. Sirs. Ray Olpin gave a vocal solo accompanied on the piano by Mrs. M. W. Merrill and responded to an encore and Elton El-ton Sumner gave two whistling solos. |
