Show NEWRECORDER APPOINTED FOR UTAHCOUNTY Miss Inez Jessee of Springville Spring-ville Chosen County Recorder Re-corder by Commission Miss Inez Jessee of Springville was Tuesday appointed recorder of Utah county to take the place of Mrs. Genevieve Richardson Lundell of Benjamin, whose resignation was accepted by the county commission at the same time. Mrs. Lundell was elected county recorder at the county election two years ago. She had two years and four months more to serve when her resignation was presented to the commission. She had previously served one term as county recorder. Mrs. Lundell, who was married a few months ago, resigned her position posi-tion to become more thoroughly engaged en-gaged in her new household duties. The new recorder has served as deputy in the recorder's office for J six years and is eminently qualified , for and well acquainted with the ' new position. She first became a deputy in the office when Mrs. Lundell Lun-dell first took office sis years ago and served with her for two years. When the Republicans replaced the Democrats in the county offices four years ago and Mrs. Leah Ekins Davis became county recorder, Miss Jessee was retained as deputy in the office. She was again appointed chief deputy two years ago when Mrs. Lundell again was elected to recorder's office. The new appointment will take effect August 1. Miss Jessee was the choice of all the members of the county commission. Miss Jessee will serve in her new capacity during the unexpired term of her predecessor or until a successor suc-cessor is elected at the county election elec-tion in November 1926 and qualifies for office on Januray 1, 1927. I The law governing the filling of vacancies in county offices provides I for the appointee to hold office for j the unexpired term. Section 1400x5 I of the Complied Laws of Utah 1917 j regulating the powers of the board of county commissioners provides as follows: "The board of county commissioners in each county , has jurisdiction and power to fill by appointment all vacancies that may occur in all elective county, district, or precinct offices, except as otherwise other-wise provided by law, the appointee to hold office for the unexpired term. This section was not amended by the legislature of 1921 when the term of office for certain counfcy officers, of-ficers, including county recorder,, was increased from two to four years. |
