Students rotated to different stations and participated in various activities relating to fall. One rotation in particular, called the Fall Drama/Dance allowed students to show in a creative way what they liked to do in the leaves. Using pretend leaves, they also acted out different scenarios and discussed what scatters leaves — wind. Pretending to be the wind, students scattered the leaves using wind sticks. They moved them fast, slow, high and low. Above, kindergarteners and parents volunteers participate in one of the various fall activities. On Oct, 1, 2009, Mr. Billie shared his Native American Heritage with third grade students. His wife, Nat Billie, and two daughters, Shokotah and Raven, came to present some of the clothing and traditions from their heritage. Nat Billie wore a half native dress. Raven Shy Billie was wearing a jingle dress, and Shokotah Star Billie was dressed in a "Sha" dress. Their clothing, along with other items they brought for display, were each handmade at Title 7 Indian Education Camp, a camp Mr. Billie's daughters attend in the summer. After explaining the different clothing and items, the girls danced to a traditional gathering song. The third grade students and teachers at Spanish Oaks were excited to learn more about the Native American Heritage. Thank you Billie family, for sharing your heritage.
