My life is pretty much an open book and I was thinking about this the other day and thought I just might as well fess up. Have you seen the commerical on tv sending the message that we are about to do anything we can to save money in these tough times? It show this homemaker bending over the kitchen counter and she really concentrating on what she is doing. When the camera takes a full view shot, she is squeezing catsup from a fast food place into a catsup bottle. So, you think you know where this is going? Don't laugh! You said you wouldn't. Well, it's true! My grandson had been to a fast food establishment and left his sack in the garbage can in my kitchen. When I picked it up to put it in .a plastic bag I thought it felt rather heavy and so I looked inside. There were about 13 little packets of catsup. Well, I couldn't throw them away they were good. So I took the catsup bottle out of my fridge and preceeded to squeeze the contents into the bottle. Yes, I kept a watchful eye to make sure no one caught me! You're laughing again. Now if my children read this they are going to be embarrassed, but that's okay. Maybe someone will ask one of my children, "Would your mother really do that?" "Oh, yes," will be their emphatic reply.^ My grandchildren will also say the same thing. "She makes us unwrap gifts very carefully so she can use the wrapping paper again; she keeps string off feed sacks and washes plastic paper cups after a family party." I just remind them that I was born in 1932 during the Depression - to save, recycle and use again is in my genes and I can't help it!
