Show -N E \V S- Spanish Fork Covering what matters most In the Dark opens The second annual spook alley, In the Dark in Spanish Fark opens on October 11, 2007 at the Spanish Fork Fairgrounds located at 40 South Main Street. The Spook Alley gained considerable attention last year with nearly 5,000 visitors, and it is expected that this year the crowds will double. Being down at the fairgrounds at night is eerie anyway, but put a Spook Alley in the mix and you have the makings for a frightful experience. This year, there is no "kids' side" with princesses and Easter bunnies. It's all just blood, guts, gore, spooks, mazes, things that go bump in the night and creatures from your favorite nightmare. In the Dark offers 14 scary rooms of various themes and a 100foot maze corridor. If torture chambers are not to your liking, there's sure to be a room that fits your pleasure, like the creepy crawly tomb, the haunted cemetery, 6r the witch's den. The talent for In the Dark comes from American Leadership Academy, as well as Spanish Fork High School and community volunteers. The creative team is headed up by Carol Fairbanks and Dennis Owen. Dennis is famous for his very own neighborhood spook alley, but now lends his considerable engineering talents, and vast collection of "spooky mechanics" to the Spanish Fork spook alley. Owen's creativity will be high profile this year with his very impressive castlelike entrance to In the Dark, located on the west side of the Tennis Court building at the fairgrounds. Carol Fairbanks has designed most of the room's content and now admits to being scared to enter her own designs as they are just "too scary." Spanish ForkCity'sSpecial Events team, headed by Steve Money and Elaine Hansen, are taking care of logistics, advertising, operations and personnel. The cast of spooks from American Leadership Academy as well as their Fine , Arts Administrator, Spencer Moody, have been assisting in the set dressing and rehearsing their roles for several weeks now. Women Working for Women are assisting with the make-up and they are first rate. Julie Anderson, who worked many years for Taylor Made's Halloween Festivities heads up the make-up and special effects crew. In the Dark runs every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, beginning Oct. 11, 2007 at 7 p.m. On weekends, the spook alley will stay open as late as there are guests in line. On the school nights, the spooks will retire around 9:30 p.m. — so come early. Tickets discounts of $8 are available if you bring your Student ID card or if you purchase in advance at the city office building. Tickets are $9 at the door. Groups of 20 or more may receive a discount of $7.50 per ticket, but arrangements must be made by calling 798-5000 extension 57. We hope to see you there, but beware...danger lurks ...In the Dark!
