SF Junior High holds Fall Spirit Week The Student Body Council had their first true test planning and carrying out the Fall Spirit Week, which ended on Thursday, Sept. 27. They did a fantastic job. Each day was highlighted with a special theme including: Pajama Day, Sports Day, Clash Day and Lobo Day. All students were invited to show their school spirit by wearing clothing representative of the daily theme. On Thursday the SBC hosted a Student Spirit Assembly, which included a special Spirit Mile Run. Medals were awarded to the top finishers. The top three girls and boys finishers included: Jordan Barclay, 1st; Tyler Gait, 2nd; Alex Minson, 3rd; and Kaetlin Bracken, 1st; KarleeLoss; 2nd, and Amber Amos, 3rd. Students participated in relays and cheers and the faculty defended its tug-of-war superiority over the student body once again. Assistant Principal Scott Carson said, "It was exciting to see the Student Body Council take on such a big assignment and, with the help of their advisers, carry off such a successful week. The addition of the seventh grade class has added a lot of enthusiasm to the school. In an endeavor as serious as the education of our children, it's fun once and a while to let our hair down and just celebrate being together and enjoying our schpol." The president is Whitney Nielson; vice-president Shideler Bennett; Secretary Shaylee Reynolds; treasurer Nathan Christense; 9th grade reps, Lauren Barlow, Chelsey Davis, Mckell Flick, Ronnie Hamilton, Kylee Lusk; 7th Grade reps, Lexie Houghton, David Smiley. Advisors are Ms. Nicole Wenczel and Ms. Tiersa Marcov. East Meadows Spanish Foifc All scarecrows will be located in the Spanish Fork City Main Street flowerbeds. This contest is open to residents, local businesses, non-residents and nonprofit groups in Spanish Fork and Salem. Scarecrows must be completed and in their designated areas by Friday, Oct. 5th Courtesy photo IN THE ARMY: East Meadows fourth grade students went to Camp Floyd and enjoyed many activities such as candle making. A soldier representing the early era of the 1860's, told students what it was like then, and why they were sent to Utah. They also learned what a school was like in the early days of the pioneers. Students thought the books were fun to read. Canyon ll . i Courtesy photo SAFETY KIDS: Canyon PTA sponsored a safety fair for students and parents. Students could register their bicycles with the Spanish Fork Police Department, walk through a fire truck and ambulance truck and participate in a bike rodeo.
