Convenience store proving popular By JIN HYOUK CHOI JOURNAL STAFF WRITER Think of it as the college equivalent of "711 ." It's good for a candy bar in-between classes when there isn't time for lunch. It's good for that Scantron that you need as you hurry to make it to your class on time to ta ke the test . And it's there for a bottle of asprin when that test didn't go so well. It's the "C" store - with the "C" for convenience. The convenience store opened in the Sharwan Smith Center over the summer and, Bookstore Director Dennis Ohm s said, it's seeing a lot of use. Ohms said his biggest sellers arc the 20 oz. and one liter Coke bottles and the Little Debbie snack cakes. The convenience store also sells specia lty candies like fudge, gourmet jellybeans and the occasional Swedish Fish. "This convenience store is separate from the bookstore," Ohms said. "This system is more efficient." The convenience st ore is mainly there for last min ute items, where the Bookstore is for supplies, Ohms said. "The Bookstore's hours are from 8 a. m. to 5 p.m., but the convenience store opens at 7 a.m to 9 p.m." And, Ohms said, there's always room for improvem ent. Right now the convenience store is looking to add more items to its inventory. He said he is planning to add milk, coffee and hot dogs. "I think it's been a success," Ohms said. The busiest hour is 10 a.m. In addition, in the morning they sell inexpensive items, and in the afternoon they sell expensive items.
