Thursday night, as parents and friends watched, Student Body President Scott Price and his Executive Council were sworn in. The 1 1 student officials were given the rein? of their office in a short ceremony in the student' center small ballroom Thursday night. Before the inauguration, SUSC President Gerald R. Sherratt said he considers student government to be a , j very vital part of the campus. Student leaders are, in a sense, teachers, Sherratt said, and are integral partners in the education process. Much of the stuff that can be learned in the classroom can be tested in student government. Sherratt said the college administration and members of student government share common goals: Were partners in this process, and Im looking forward to this coming year. Following the ceremony, Price praised Mark Wade, the outgoing student body president, saying that he has filled his term in a professional manner. Price also pledged to promote innovative ideas during the coming year, and he thanked those who are close to him for the guidance theyve given him all his life. APPLICATIONS ARE NOW BEING ACCEPTED FOR PUBLKC&TIOHJS COUNCIL BSBBSBBSS The Council consists of three facultystaff members and four students and establishes basic policy for The Thunderbird. The Editor and Business Manager for the newspaper are selected each year by the council, which also approves the budget for the newspaper. The council, moreover, is tiie sounding board for those who have complaints. Serving on the council' is an. opportunity to get involved with the college and with the general operation of student publications. Membership entails fewer than five hours per quarter.
