It started coming down the walls slowly and then came faster and faster, Randall said. The flooding was discovered by Doug Leventon, who, returning from a Christmas tree decorating party on noticed that the carpet was soaked and found the plugged toilet. He and Glenn Hamblin notified Resident Adviser Scott Clark. Both Clark and Leventon tried for several minutes to stop the flow before Leventon finally closed the valve. Facilities Manager Neuman Duncan and Oak Hall Head Resident Gordon Kohl took charge of the cleanup efforts which continued until past 5 a.m. and involved some 25 residents. It was noted earlier by Vicki Denniston, a Juniper R.A., that the water pressure in the entire building was extremely low and that the water on the girls floor was brown in color. Water pressure in surrounding private residences was also reported to be low. Duncan could not estimate the amount of damage that may have been caused by this flooding. Clark pointed out that a similar incident occurred on the floor about three J V. years ago. Just last spring Godfrey was honored by the Broadcast Education Association for his contribution to historical research in broadcasting. He has published numerous articles in the field.
