The UDA is reminding producers of Californias quarantine against the cereal leaf beetle currently in place in Utah. Hay and grain shipments from infested areas in Utah are being delayed or turned back from ports of entry in California. To avoid any shipping delays, the UDA is recommending producers contact their local agricultural field representative, or contact the department in Salt Lake City for help. Demand for Utah hay and grain products is high in California because of damaging weather there this past winter and spring. Under the quarantine, California is restricting the movement of small grains and hay such as barley, oats, wheat, ear corn, straw and hay, including a mixture of alfalfa and oats, alfalfa and grass and alfalfa and barley. Pure alfalfa is exempt from the quarantine. Other products restricted are: grass sod, grass and forage seed; fodder and plant litter; used harvesting equipment or machinery. Utah is one of 30 states under the California quarantine. Beetles have been found in 15 Utah counties. To comply with Californias quarantine requirements, any producer shipping from an infested area must first fumigate their product before shipping to California. Producareas must ers in hare a certificate of compliance before shipping. Counties that ar3 currently infested are: Box E der, Cache, Davis, Juab, parts of Millard, Morgan, Rich, Salt Lake, Sanpete, Sevier, Summit, 7ooele, Utah, Wasatch and Afeber Counties. non-infect- I ed 3 Wednesday Nkht at the Gazebo A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who came out and supported " The Concert in the Park".
