Show Editorial Comment Nobody In Washington these days seems daring enough even to think in terms of solutions. They think only of "adjusting" themselves to the statis-quo. . This is not so with the rank and file of America's citizens. The expediency policy, the appeasing, ap-peasing, the statis-quo scramble of both parties has convinced us that neither of the major parties has a . penny's worth of determination to correct our multi-billion dollar problems. Rather, it's billions for more blunders and not one cent for correction. Things have to get really ; bad, however, before ordinary . citizens will see eye-to-eye and - demand a change through a concerted effort at the polls. But those of us who are distressed distres-sed over the sinking of both at once-great political parties into the cesspool of socialism ; can take heart. jj On all levels of government f there is going to be great J "scratching" of ballots. This general interest in men who V will espouse the real issues is l encouraging. For Utahn's, this year, it is not going to be "my party, right or wrong, but mv tjartv" 4 nt M. r - Never has there been so much . interest by so many prominent 5 citizens as is being displayed in these last few days of this : campaign. Whatever the size of the vote, it looks like a whopping start toward seriously contending socialism. To express ourselves ,cor. rectly it will be necessary for us to know how to mark a ballot correctly. Let's take the time and make the effort to ) learn how to do this accurately so that our well-thought-out I efforts to express ourselves will ." not go to waste. If we do this there will be some election surprises that will let Congress know that, as in other places in the nation, Utah is up on its political toes peeking over the Washington secrecy fence and we don't like what we ; see |
