These helpful hints include the following: 1. Launder new hose before wearing, then after each wearing. 2. Use mild suds, rinse well, roll in a towel, and hang away from direct heat to dry. 3. Never twist or wring nylon stockings. An-other way to make each pair of hose wear longer is to buy the new "triple life" type which are woven with double threads to make them mn-resista- nt. These nylons now are being offered at t special price to each purchaser of Parkay margarine who sends in an end flap from the carton. they and thair parents are enthused about the program. ADULT EDUCATION CLASSED PLANNED Sixth grade children in the East Mill Creek School 2963 East 3435 South havj begun dancing classes on their own time. Each Thursday from 3:45 to 5:00 p. m. these boys and girls are instructed by pro-fessional dance instructors from several Salt Lake dance studios. A number of parents have agreed to serve as hosts to the children. Mr. Paul S. Worthen, Principal of the school announced that there are 115 children participating, and that Granite Art Students Hold Exhibits The Granite art students have an art exhibit now at the Calvin S. Smith Library. The art-- teacher is H. Edward Nel-se- n, prominent Utah artist. Sat-urday, the students had a five minute art demonstration on the youth program, "Citizen '62". V. F. W. Entertains Vets. - Ft. Douglas Each month, two nights are looked forward to with special anticipation by the patients of the Veterans Administration Hospital at Fort Douglas. On these nights, volunteers from the V. P. W. Post 3586 come to the hospital to bowl with the patients. Usually 10 men and women come for the bowling, held the first and third Thursday of every month at 7:00 p. m. During the evening there is chit chat, socializing, refresh-ments, and cigarettes for the bowlers. The bowlers are Mr. and Mrs. Jack Foster, Mr. and Mrs. Kieth Larson, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Foster, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Yearsley, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Critchfield, Mrs. Givern Brown, Miss Geniel Stevens, Mrs. Betty Bradshaw, Mrs. Donette Clawson, and Mrs. Ted Martin. Club Elects Officers The Ladies of the National Guard had election of officers at Harmans cafe on North Temple, Monday night, March 10th. The table decorations carried the theme of St. - Patricks Day, with Joyce Austin in charge. Officers elected were as follows: Mrs. Lou Whiteside, president; Mrs. Amy Orlob, vice president; Mrs. Dorothy Nielson, recording secretary; Dorothy Peay, corresponding secretary; Clair Christian, treasurer; Irs. Shirley Spradling, historian. The outgoing president is Mrs. Ray Peterson. Teen Cjlub Holds Surprise Party Members of the 67 Teen Club, newly organized group spon-sored by the Youth Guidance Committee of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 67, en-tertained two of their number with a surprise birthday cele-bration at their dance, held March 5 at the Aerie Home, 3571 West North Temple.! Honored with birthday cakes and best wishes from all of their many friends were Jue Lee Lambourne on her fift-- eenth birthday and Valoy Peck on her sixteenth birthday. .. A great deal of interest and enthusiasm s shwn for this new club, open to young people in the city w7ho are looking for good fun and a future of sporting events, lessons in crafts and in social affairs. Safety Meet Conducted By P. T. A. A PTA meeting at Rosilind Heights School will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. and will be for parents and students. The purpose of the meeting is to foster bicycle sefety. The officer Papl Folson, traffic speaker for the day will be officer for the city schools. The talk will be given in a special assembly. Beta Phi Holds Model Meeting Mrs. Walter Verzanl, presi-dent of Lambda Chapter Beta Sigpiia Phi, presented a model meeting at the YWCA, Wednes. day, March 12. The purpose of the meeting was to showj prospective pledges how to conduct a meet-ing. The twelve new pledges have been invited to the in-structive session. Mrs. Lynn Jensen, commit-tee chairman, is in charge and will be assisted by Mrs. Mer-ri- tt Watson, Mrs. Heber G. Wheatley, Mrs. Howard G. Tay-lor, Mrs. William Pizza. 'The Art of Thinking" will be discussed by Mrs. Helen Ve-za- nl and Annabelle Haney. |
