The lloliaday Community Church is mailing plans to have 44 new pews in the Sanctuary soon after Easter. The pews cost $134 each, or about 17 per individual seat. Members of the congregation and other interested people ' have contributed to a special fund, and it is hoped that their goal can be reached by March 16th. Mr. and Mrs. Fred J. Cartese had a birthday party for their daughter Julia Ann, who just turned 7. The party was held at new family home, 1894 E. Millbrook Drive, and among the honored guests were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Certese, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Vciler, ail grandparents of the newly 7 year old girl. Also attending was Mrs. Anna Tcnncsen, the great grandmother grand-mother of the girl, and Terry 9, and Linda 6, brother and sister of Julie Ann. Spotlighting the occasion was the huge birthday cake. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Athas, 2GG0 Highland Drive, entertained enter-tained a visitor from Chicago over the weekend. Mr. Art Peponis, owner of the Plaza Cleaners, a chain of cleaning establishments in Chicago, visited Mr. and Mrs. Athas on his way home from a fund raising trip for the Panarcadian Hospital. Included In-cluded on this trip were Tuscon, Denver and Chicago. Mrs. C. Lorin Tonnesen, 21C5 Millstream Avenue' broke her leg while skiing Sunday. She is confined to her bed with the leg in a cast and it will be several weeks before she will be up and around. The Ladies Architecture League is holding a luncheon Tuesday March ISth at Hotel Temple square. The honored guest speaker for the afternoon after-noon will be Professor Gordon Heck, Associate professor of the School of Architecture at the University of Utah. He will speak on "Architecture at the Past and Present", and will illustrate his talk with slides. Present will be wives of the Salt Lake Architects, and their guests, and present as special guests will be the wives cf the Producers Council. Hostesses for the luncheon will be Mrs. Paul K. Evans, Mrs. Ralph A. Edwards, Mrs. Clifford Clif-ford Evans, and Mrs. Glen R. Swensen. |
