Stamp Honor The United Nations Postal Administration Ad-ministration has awarded Gwen Foote an honorable mention in the U N Stamp Design Contest. Twenty six winners were chosen from more than 1,100 entries submitted from all over the United States. The ninth grade student from Hillside Hill-side Junior High school will receive re-ceive as an award a certificate of merit and a White Ace stamp album al-bum with United Nations stamps. In addition her design will be put on display during the month of April in the main lobby of General Gen-eral Assembly Hall at U N Headquarters. Head-quarters. The talented Miss was asleep when notice of the award arrived at her home and Mrs. Foote suffered suf-fered through several hours of suspense until her daughter awoke and could be presented with the letter. Even now the suspense is still growing in the Foote family for Gwen submitted two designs anG as yet she does not know which one won th prize. Gwen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Oran Foote, 1958 Garfield Avenue and a student of Mr. Beard's civics class in which the contest was developed. |
