Haves Simpson To Present Recital Students of Elizabeth Hayes Simpson will be presented in a recital of vocal solos and ensembles including oratorio and operatic excerpts by Handel, Haydn, Arne, Puccini, Verdi and modem com-posers, on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 8 p.m. The recital will be given in Converse Hall, Westminster Col-lege where Mrs. Simpson is a mem-ber of the music faculty. Those participating are June Adairm, Cora Berghout, Alice Day, Becky Gulbransen, Lauri Hutch-ing- s, Marie Larsen, Marcia Lentz, Lacl Faterson, Joan Pemberton, Nancy Kae Perham, Lucille Rogers, Grace Steward and Inge- - borg Whitelock. The public is cordially invited. Hotel Utah Lafayette Scene of B-P-W Meet It was all for the women . . . business women, at the annual Utah Business and Professional Women's dinner party at Hotel Utah Thurs-day evening. Among the special guests was gracious Ada Burt, Utah Pres-ident, lovely, in blue silk with brilliant rhinestones adding additional f parkle to Ada's already sparkling personality. P.e-newi- ng acquaint-encc- s, at the speakers table, were Senator and Mrs. Orville Hafen, Ada Burt. Attractive Lyle Cardall, smart in print silk, visited with Sugar House President, charming, Camille Nash. Petite Mildred Richey, president of the Salt Iake Club, won every one with her charm. Ani "On to Hawaii ... in July," table decorations inspired a con-versation piece with pretty Bea Peterson discussing transportation, clothes for the trip with Hattie Hubner and Mary Ann Nation. Virginia Picht and Emma Miller, who was accompanied to the gay party by her charming dark haired daughter also looked to Hawaii. Gracious Edna Andersen, greeted other members as she bid good-nigh- ts in the foyer. Gail Seaman, accompanied by attractive daught-er chatted with her guests. Cummings Camp of DUP Entertained At Handley Home The Cummings Camp of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers had a most enjoyable evening Fri-day, January 18. They met at the home of Mrs. Wm. Handley, who is the Capt. of the camp. The les-son, "South Africa's Contribution to Utah," was given by Mrs. Val Moore. Those in attendance were: Mrs. Kenneth Young, Mrs. Louis Domenko, Mrs. Elwood Larson, Mrs. Val Moore, Mrs. Cleon Allred, Mrs. Francis Boulware, Mrs. Iler-ol- d Christensen, Mrs. Curtis Stev-ens, and Mrs. Wm. Handley. After the lesson, light refreshments were served by the three hostesses, Mrs. Don Sluder, Mrs. Cash Delahunty and Mrs. Wm. Handley. The goal for the Camp for the year 1957, is to register every eligible girl in Mt. Air Acres. The requirement for eligibility is to have pioneer ancestry that arrived in Utah before May 10, 1869. Plans Special Day Due to the five Wednesdays fall-ing in January, the East Mill Creek LDS Ward Relief Society has plan-ned a special event day on Jan. 30, entitled "Entertaining With Ease." Mrs. Lu Ree Harrington will give a combination cooking and lecture demonstration with hints for chil-dren's birthday parties, and teen parties as well as buffet serving. This program is in connection with the Home Management les-son and will feature cheese dishes. The ward leader for the lessons is Nina Neff. Demonstration foods will be awarded as prizes. The special day has been arranged by the Relief Society presidency: Mrs. Claire Morris, president; Kay Dunfield, first counselor; Mrs. Joe Holling-vvort- h, second counselor and Mrs. Dora Johnson, secretary. A large attendance is expected. Vacation In Nevada Sunny Las Vegas beckoned Mr. and Mrs. Ed Scott, 2800 Imperial, for a short vacation jaunt. The Scotts left Wednesday morning for the Nevada city and will return the first of the week. x r - ' ft ': Food Talk Recipes & Chatter by Fern Thomas Hi Neighbor! Pineapple Glamorizes Ham Loaf Excellent company fare, but don't wait for guests. Meat loaf is a year-roun- d favorite that provides almost unending variety in flavors . . . the more recipes you have the better. Here's a dressed-u- p version, fine for guest dinner or buffet sup-per. The stuffing of canned pineapple tidbits and sweet potatoes lends a delicious flavor and keeps the loaf moist in the baking. Eound out the menu with a molded salad and a favorite dessert. STUFFED HAM LOAF pound ground ham Y2 teaspoon salt. , V2 pound ground beef 2 tablespoons brown sugar cup fine dry bread crumbs Dash allspice, cinnamon V2 cup milk IY2 cups drained pineapple tidbits 1 egg . '1cup mashed sweet potatoes I Mix ham, beef, crumbs, milk, egg and salt. Spread on waxed paper In oblong about 6 x 10-inch- es. Stir brown suar, spices and cup only pineapple into sweet potatoes. Spread over meat and roll care-fully like a jelly roll. Lift by waxed paper into shallow pan. Bake in moderate oven (350 F.) 1 to Vz hours. Decorate loaf with re-maining cup pineapple as shown. Sprinkle fruit lightly with brown sugar and run under broiler a few minutes to glaze. Serves 5 to 6. Buffet Party Loaf: Double these amounts to serve 10 or 12 and cook about Yt hour longer.
