Weighed 8 lbs. 1 oz. BIRTHDAYS 100th - Erma Olsen Pickett Erma Olsen Pickett will celebrate her 100th birthday on Jan. 16, 2005. Her family would like to invite everyone in the valley to a celebration in her honor on Saturday, Jan. 15 from 2-4 p.m. at the Gunnison LDS Stake Center in Gunnison. Erma was born Jan. 16 1905 in Manti to Louis Christian Olsen and Pheba Ann Mackey Olsen. She married Merrill Pickett in the Manti Utah Temple on April 28, 1926 and the couple made their home in Gunnison. Erma has six children, 27 grandchildren and a total posterity of close to 200. Please come and spend a few minutes socializing with her. Please, no gifts. First - Shay Lewis Scott Shay Lewis Scott YW RECOGNITION Mandy Lee Hatch Mandy Lee Hatch, daughter of Brian and Michelle Hatch of Manti received her Young Womanhood Recognition Award in the Manti 4th Ward on Jan. 9, 2005. Mandy is a senior at Manti High School. She has been involved in cheerleading and softball. Mandy’s grandparents are Roy and Jeanette Hatch and Melva and the late Max Cox, all of Manti. Mandy Lee Hatch MISSIONS Homecoming Josh Orton Knoxville, Tennessee Mission Josh Orton Homecoming Shirece Sorensen Canada, Vancouver Mission Shirece Sorensen, daughter of Sherwin and Debra Sorensen of Gunnison, will return home from serving in the Canada, Vancouver Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints on Jan. 14, 2005. She will report on her mission on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. in the Gunnison 5th Ward. Casey Hill George Richard (Dick) Dallam Shay Lewis Scott, son of Jeffery and Emily Scott of Manti, celebrated his first birthday on Jan. 8, 2005 with his family. Grandparents are the late Donna Keisel Scott, Manti and Brent and Diane Wilson, Las Vegas, NV and great-grandparents Leslie Dean and Madge Wilson, both of Salina. Happy birthday, we love you Shay! Josh Orton, son of Mike and Moni Orton of Manti, is returning home after serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Knoxville, Tennessee Mission. He will report his mission on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005 at 9 a.m. in the Manti 6th Ward, Manti Tabernacle. Louk Gordon, pictured with his wife, Brooke OBITUARIES Erma Olsen Pickett Shirece Sorensen George Richard (Dick) Dallam, 79, of Gunnison died Jan. 3, 2005. He was born Feb.17, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska to Richard Cody and Mabel Clark Dallam, married Patricia Denny, July 31 1985 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dick was a truck driver for more years than can be counted. Dick loved his family first and driving second. He loved to talk and had many friends everywhere. He will be missed by them all. Dick is survived by his wife Pat, daughter Vicky Ferris of California, son Jason (Brandy) Dallam, stepdaughter Pam and George Ryback of Chicago, Paula Gruzleroski of Florida, Jim and Jeanne Gruzleroski of Florida, six grandchildren and OBITUARIES Louk Gordon Farewell Casey Hill Thailand, Bangkok Mission Casey Hill, son of David and Diane Hill of Centerfield, has been called to serve in the Thailand, Bangkok Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. Casey enters the Missionary Training Center in Provo on Jan. 19, 2005. Casey is the grandson of Lester and Helen Hill of Gunnison and Eugene and Nancy Jensen of Centerfield and the great-grandson of Bee Rees of St. George. Casey will speak in the Centerfield 1st Ward on Jan. 16, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2005 George Dallam nine great-grand children. At Dick’s request there will be no public services. There will be a skeet shoot in the following weeks to honor his life of friendship and family. Louk Gordon, 26, of Ephraim, Utah, died Jan. 8, 2005, in an avalanche accident in Ephraim Canyon. Louk was born Feb. 22, 1978, in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, to Ben and Diane Black Gordon. He married Brooke Matthews, Aug. 9, 2001, in the Salt Lake Utah Temple. Louk is survived by his wife, Brooke, and his daughter, Joslynn, the loves of his life; parents, Ben and Diane Gordon, Ephraim; brothers, Cory (Kim) Gordon, Ephraim; Cody (Melissa) Gordon, Enoch; Durke (Jessie) Gordon, Ephraim; three sisters, NaLoni (Richard) Murdock, Washington; Niki Gordon; Joni Gordon, both of Ephraim; eight nieces and six nephews; father and mother-inlaw, Brent and Gilli Matthews, West Jordan; sister-in-law, Brittany (Wade) Russell; brotherin-law, Brandon (Eden) Matthews; and one niece. Louk is a graduate of Manti High School and Snow College. He is a returned missionary and an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed mountain biking, snow boarding, wake boarding, his church and being with his family. He had a successful business as a contractor. His family will remember him for his vibrant laugh and love for life and people. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005, at 12 noon in the Ephraim Stake Center. Friends may call at the Stake Center in Ephraim on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Ephraim Cemetery. Call Steve or Joyce Olsen 283-6344 after 5 p.m. Mildred Morley Seely Mildred Morley Seely passed away at the age of 101 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. With the support of family and loved ones she was able to remain in her own home until her passing on Jan. 8, 2005. She was the 11th child born to HanCena Hansen and Amasa Allen Morley on Aug. 9, 1903. She was the great-granddaughter of Isaac Morley Sr. and enjoyed a rich pioneer heritage. She married Ray Edwin Seely in the Manti Utah Temple on Jan. 4, 1922. They were devoted to each other and moved in the same shadow until Ray’s passing in May of 1981. They had eight children. Millie had a wonderful positive attitude and was always “super duper”. She was a member of the LDS Church, serving in Primary and Relief Society organizations and as a visiting teacher for many years. She was a hard worker and enjoyed her home and beautiful yard. Mildred enjoyed doing handwork and made many beautiful crocheted items. She was the famous “pizza lady” at her son, Terrel’s, grocery store in Mt. Pleasant and worked there until she was 97 years old. She was featured in a Cream o’Weber TV commercial. Her great loves were her husband and family and clothes. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Robert and Cherron. She is survived by Velores (daughter-inlaw), Miriam (Kenneth) Young, Norma (Boyd) Larsen, Marlane (Bruce) Harless, Marilyn (David) Sorensen, Sue Ann (Roger) Croshaw, and Terrel (Glenda) Seely. She has 32 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-greatgrandchildren. Mother loved and was grateful to all those who served her. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005 in the Mt. Pleasant LDS 4th Ward. Internment was at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery under the direction of Rasmussen Mortuary of Mt. Pleasant.
