Show News Items. I. H. Whalon, ol this city, seems to have an inclinatoin to deal in live stock as well as in mines and real estate. The Provo Dispatch says that "J.H.VVhalon has traded his Ilardie addition to Provo to Mr. Rush Warnerthe Equitable Insurance Insur-ance man lor a big bunch of Tolled Ansus cattle all of which are registered stock except the calves, also full blood. This herd will be ( laced on Mr. Wha-lon's Wha-lon's ranch some twelve or fourteen miles southwest of Salt Lake Citv. for raising pure stock of this class." From a private letter from Marysvale we learn that the snow is very deep in Bullion canyon near that place, and that there have been several snowslides there of late. Several of the prominent oficials of the Rio Grande western railroad com pany have been down that way, and inspected in-spected the leading mines in the canyon A number of mining men the letter stated, have congregrated there and it is auticpated that mining matters will be brisk there in the spring. The outlook tor that portion of Utah looks bright from a mining point of view. The family were all at the death bed During his dying moments and death came very peacefully General Sherman spen-. the greater portion ol the night in skei, and semed to be resting very easily. At 3 oclock p. m. General Thomas Eiving said. "I think ihe General has passed the crisis in his disease, He had fourteen hours of undisturbed restful repose and belore this he had not had two hours of quiet time. One lung is entirely free and the other filled with mucous. Tneie is no indication of pneumonia and the action of the hear and stomach is good. The General is weak and till in a critical condition, but he chanc.s for Ins recovery recov-ery are good." The doctors also thought at that time the conditions were very faxoiable, but when the ge-ieral awoke this morning the glands cf his throat were much swol-leii.aud swol-leii.aud he had gruwu perceptible weak At 10 o'clock the family were summoned sum-moned to the bedside, and at 12 o'clock an olhcial bulletin was issued saying that General Snerman could last ouly a few moments more. A large crowd was congregated on the street and when death was aniroun-ced.many aniroun-ced.many were deeply effected although they were expecting the end al any moment. |
