Mrs. Larsen, mother of Mrs. Christian Peterson, a resident of the southwest part of the city, died Tuesday evening, Oct. 21, of old age. Deceased was past 80 years of age, and for some time has been bedfast. She was the mother of a large family, most of whom, together to-gether with a number of grand and great-grandchildren survive her. The social given in the Pavilion Monday in honor of the old folks of the North ward, was a magnificent magnifi-cent success and was thoroughly enjoyed by the old people. Over one hundred persons were present who were sixty years of age and over. Mrs. Margaret Reid was given the prize for the lady past GO years of age having the largest family; she has 14 children. There are other ladies in Manti who are the mothers of larger families, but who have not yet reached the age of sixty years. Funeral services over the remains of Ireta, the 2-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. V. A. Reid, were held from the family residence last Sunday morning at eleven o'clock. The circumstances of the death of this little girl are sad in the extreme. ex-treme. On Thursday afternoon the child was playing in the yard and fell head foremost into a tub of soap suds. The mother, missing the child, sent one of the' older children to look for It, when it was found in the tub of water, dead.
