He was born May 10, 1929 in Blanding, Utah to Douglas and loved to tell stories, especially about family history. He is survived by his wife, Joan; sons, Douglas Powell III Utah where he taught in Granite School District for 21 years. Douglas loved to box. He was taught by his father at a young age. Over the years he participated in many boxing Paul (Geri), Franklin (Marilyn), and Douglas Cecil; brothers, Wallace (Nancy), Bill (Barbara); sister, Lillian (Jim); 10 grandchildren; 3 great- grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; one matches and exhibitions, including local July 24 celebrations. While going to college, he boxed in Salt Lake City. It started in Utah with Homestake Mining Company and then with the Rio Algom Mining Company, near Moab. He moved to Delta, Utah where he taught school for one year. He then took a teaching job in Northport, Washington where he met and married Eleanor Joan Skinner on September 10, 1955.
