Show Prairie Crooners to visit Monticello December 3 Blue Mountain Entertainment welcomes The Prairie Crooners, a group featuring cowboy singing, poetry, and jokes, on Monday, December 3, at 7 p.m. at the Monticello High School Auditorium. The Utah Arts Councils PerformThe ing Arts Tbur Crooners. The Prairie Crooners follow in the footsteps of such notables as Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, and the Sons of the Pioneers, providing a program ofhigh-qualit- y vocal harmony, accompanied by guitar, concertina, harmonica and bass. The repertoire ranges from soft, tender ballads to high energy "pickin', pluckin, and yodelin songs, and is a delightful mix of nostalgic old ies and stirring originals. The program also includes cowboy poetry, clean jokes, rope tricks, and genuine fun that leaves audiences with lasting happy memories. The participants come from rich musical backgrounds. Rod Maxfield, a former opera star, sang old time cowboy tunes in family settings; he plays rhythm guitar, bass and harmonica, and sings the low parts, as well as yodeling. He raises cattle and event quarter horses in Woodland, Utah. Dale Watts, also of Woodland, has been lead guitarist for several country western dance groups, performing in Europe, Utah, Wyoming, Nevada, South Dakota, Montana, and Idaho. Guitar is his love.
