Show former residents of blanding anding pass on by grace shumway blanding was saddened this week when word came of the death of mark P lyman and alta nielson cox both former residents of blanding mark is the son of albert R and lill lyman born here july he was very active in all school activities and graduated with high honors from san juan high he also took a very active part in church doings filling a mission for his church when he went to great britain while there he was a member of the millennial millennia chorus and sang in scotland england wales and ireland it was a very popular chorus singing in many famous theatres theartres the atres of the big cities he left on the last ship without being convoyed while on this mission he was very successful in hunting genealogy after his return he married ida of la grande ore they lived here for a few years then moved to salt lake city where he was living at the time of his death although his health was not good for some timet time he spent aly only ten days at the hospital prior to his death from brights disease beside his wife he is survived by two small daughters his father and the following brothers and sisters karl and vint of monticello cassie Mon sori enone davis klar bishop and edith powell of salt lake ellen atkins of st george ann mcqueen alberta obrien platt and guen lyman of blanding his mother a sister and two brothers have passed on most of the family were at the funeral which was held in salt lake on monday the body was tak taken n t to 0 oregon for burial bark mark was well known in san juan and especially in blanding he will always be remembered for his willingness to help and to be of service he showed a lot of bravery because he knew his time was short yet he was never heard to complain the family will miss him of course but it is wonderful to see them take it so well and to realize that mark was so well prepared to go on mrs alta nielson cox daughter of joseph hans nielson and ida evelyn lyman was born at bluff nov 6 1892 where she went I 1 through the district school then attended the BYU at provo but was forced to quit on count account ac of her health it improved however and she was married to lee cox of texas F for or the last few years her health has again been very poor and she spent much of her time in hospitals where she died may 5 at reno nevada beside her husband she leaves I 1 three sisters and three brothers ed shirlie and mrs lydia redd of blanding mrs herma stewart of delta and clisbee and ethel of salt lake city shirlie and lydia went from blanding to attend the funeral which was held monday alta was president of in blanding and active in other church organizations those who remember her will think of her ready smile and cheerful disposition which remained with her although she was wa s called on to pass through so much trouble ae the sincere sympathy of the people of blanding goes out to thi families of both mark and alta and we say when sorrow comes or shadows fall the helpful word is hard to say but may god send his grace to lift the burden from your heart today |
