Show TOOELE MINES WILL iryCREASE ACTIVITY Diamond Drill to Be Used for Prospecting Lion Hill, Near Ophir. Leasers Report Excellent Showings of Ore in Pay-i-g Quantities. "M. Updike, representing the "Diamond Drilling company of San Francisco, was in Tooele Tuesday evening, and stated that his company had been engaged to do some drilling at Ophir with a diamond drill. " states the Tooele Bulletin. "George St. Clair, who is doing jury duty in Tooele this week, said that a contract has been let by the nev company com-pany which will take over about 600 acres of mining property on Lion hill, southeast of Ophir. Among the groups to be Included in the new consolidation are the McKinley, which takes In aal the ground south of the townsite of Ophir; the Empress, the Sunset, the Water Boy, the St. Clair, as well as a number cf others. '"The drilling- machinery is now arriving arriv-ing in Ophir and being installed bv Mr. Updike. The first hole will be put down at the base of the cliff in the rear of the Ophir Mercantile store. After that ground has been explored, another wiil be put down farther down the ca-nyon. If the results of the exploration work done by the diamond drill justify it, the sinking of a shaft will then be started. Strike Made at Galena King. ! "William Mills, who has a lease on the Galena King mine at Stockton, reports re-ports the strike of a body of good grad-e of lead-silver ore on the S'.'0-foot level. According to Mr. Mills, the new strike, p. nich runs 4" per cent lead and 65 ounces silver, is three feet wide, and they have drifted along the vein for sixteen feet.
