Nows was received re-ceived here today from the lighthouse keeper at West Point, that the schooner Ellen and Mary went ashore in a dense fog before daylight yesterday morning on the island of Anticosti. The schooner, desides a crew of Beven on board, had sixty passengers, mostly women and children. The only boat was smashed, and if the threatened storm breaks probably all on board will perish. A later dispatch says the Fallen and Mary came off all night at high tide, and her passengers were landed ia safety. |
