Show The exhibition of the Holy Coat of Treves has begun, and tho little place is crowded with visitors from all parts of tho world. Tradition tells us that during previous exhibitions wonderful miracles were performed. The papers assert that in 18-11 such manifestations were witnessed. The enterprise of the newspapers should step in to secure a correct record of the preseut event. The facts can be definitely ascertained and if there bo no miracles the record can be made so clear that no stories of wonderful cures can receive credence in future years, while, if the hearts of the devout should be gladdened by some miraculous occurrence, the whole world should be informed of it upon authority that could not be questioned. It is not our purpose or desire to discuss dis-cuss the probability or possibility of the possession by the relic of miraclo-work-ing power, but we voice a common thought in expressing the wish that an authoritative record might be made of the present exhibition. |
