Show AIURMONISJU AND BIFFRAOE. At the recent election held in Utah, it is said that the women voted almost en masse for fractional instead of cn-tiro cn-tiro lords to rulo over them; or, at least, that this was true of all the Mormon Mor-mon women, or those who had only a fractional part of such lords to boast of. By an act of the Territorial legislature, legis-lature, suffrage had been extended to women, and it was jubilantly expected, by those whose grand mission it was to reform all conceivable abuses in that part of the globe, that the women would gladly turn in with the reformists reform-ists ana wipe the "relio of barbarism1' right straight out of existence. But when the day of election eanie. a sud- : den and unexpected light burst in j upon the understandings of the reformists, re-formists, for, loand behold, the women marched up to the polls.cvery mother's daughter of them and deposited their votes squarely for Mormon delegates to their constitutional convention. It was found by those who had been the loudest loud-est in favor of female suffrage as a means of lifting the yoke of social thraldom from the neoks of tho Utah women, that it was the identical means to perpetuate the thraldom, if it were allowed, like other social diseases, to work its own cure. AU that this sort of suffrage amounted to was, to give to every Mormon elder who had a score of wives a score and one votes at the polls. And the most remarkable feature fea-ture about the whole businosswas, that the women voted without any let or hindrance on tho part of their fractional lords, selecting their own balloU and depositing them without the slightest surveillance exercised by their domineering masters. We give these facta without attempting to evolve any solution from them, so far as the great social questions of the day are concerned. 'Ihe institution of polygamy would seem to be the lost one for women's rights to flourish under, un-der, and yet its most remarkable outgrowth, out-growth, so far as suffrage is concerned, is found to be right under this Upas J tree of social thraldom.
