Show The Wellington Mine. In a. conversation last night with Mr. Ander-! son, superintendent of the Wellington mining and smelting company, the organization or-ganization of which -iu San Francisco j j we noticed some days ago, we obtained j the following particulars: Yesterday the company shipped to San Francisco ! a car load of bullion, ten tons, of very ! superior quality, run from Wellington j ore. An assay was made of all the ' bullion on hand, about twenty tons, 1 and it was found to contain 194 ounces i of silver and a little over an ounce and j a third in gold per ton. They have 1 now about 135 tons of ore on hand, I mostly at the furnace; which has been ' mainly taken out in sinking the incline . and connecting drifts. Tho incline isj 135 feet iu depth. Work on it had to j be suspended some five weeks ago in consequence of the heavy labor in getting get-ting the ore up, until a whim could be erected. This is now completed ready for work, and operations will be re- sumed in a few days. The ore at the j furnace and on tho dump is of much j higher grade than has been a'ready smelted, and will run, at a lowesti-. uialo, $100 per ton. The ore nt the I bottom of the incline is looking tvell, and there is a larger body in sight than , at any previous thuo since work com.j uieuccd on the mine. Now that the whim is completed work will be prose-, i cutcd vigorously in sinking the incline; j and as soon ai the weather ini-1 proves they havo every confidence in j being able to keep the furnace constantly running. At present tho furnace is stopped for repairs, but will resume 1 work on Sundiy next. They have ' supplied of provisions and m uerial on ! hand for men, with feed for auimals, to ; last over four mouths, and thero is : nothing now to interfere with an cner-1 gctic prosecution of tho work. In grading away for thewhimhouse, i at the north of the incline, they struck i very fine ore, and as large a body as j they found on tho south where nearly t all the ore already got was obtained. 1 Mr. Anderson says tint after twelve ; years experience in silver mininr, at : tho same depth and development lie ! has never seen anything M excel the j Wellington, exempt some of the ledges -of the Comstoek.
