Show Tiieatre. " Hamlet" was well played on Friday night, with the cast as announced, excepting the part of I the Ghost, which was well played on I brief notice by Mr. Power, who , doubled it with Laertes, Mr. Thorne j having been taken sick. Miss Rose I Evans somewhat took us by surprise ; in her Hamlet. We expected beautiful .reading in the part, but did not expect I the force and fire which she showed herself capable of throwing into the : more vehement passages. Mrs. Wal-i Wal-i dron makes an excellent Ophelia. Mr. ! Waldron played the King Tor the j occasion, and as a matter of course made i a feature of it ; as did Miss Adams of the Queen and Mr. McKenzie of Polo-nius. Polo-nius. ' Miss Evans gave herclosing performance perform-ance last night, " 'Twixt Axe and Crown" and "A Happy Pair" forming form-ing the bill, the lady appearing in both pieces. To-morrow night "Belphegor" is the play, Mr. Waldron appearing as the Mountebank. It will be folbwed j by a capital farce. |
