Show A tlltlUlS LAWSt'lT. A curious case is now on trial in the court of appeals for Upper Bavaria. The Bibliographical Institute of llei-delburghausen llei-delburghausen brings suit against his Mnjesiy Ludwig II. of Bavaria, as the heir of Jjudwig 1., on the lbllowing grounds : l'eter Von Cornelius, in 1S37, sold tho copyright of the celebrated frescoes fres-coes in the Ulyptothek to tho above-mentioned above-mentioned publishing-house for 1500 florins. The new owners of the copyright copy-right hud two very careful engravings mude fioiu two of the frescoes, and these were greatly admired by connoi-seurs, connoi-seurs, being the work of eminent artists, art-ists, among whom was A. Metz. ln 1806, a photographer named Boetger published a collection of engravings iroui the-e frescoes, in a large volume which he called ''The Architectural Monuments of King Ludwig I." This work, being sold at a lower price, became be-came more popular than the first series se-ries of engravings made from frescoes. On examination it was found that the second enterprise, as well as the first, was authorized by royal patents; and the plaintitfs, therefore, brought suit against the King, for the infringement made upon their copyright by his predecessor, pre-decessor, and fixed their damages at 4'),UiHJ florins.
