There are several bills to increase American commerce, among w'niob is that of the Mediterranean and Oriental Orien-tal Steamship Navigation Company. These bills mostly provide for the tran-portation of the I.uited States mails to Europe by steamships built in the United States. A bill to encourage telegraphic communication com-munication with foreign countries. In-eluded In-eluded in this bid are the proposals for a telegraph cable between San Francisco Fran-cisco and China and Japan, and also between a port in the L nited States and Belgium. A bill to relieve members of Congress from importunity, and to preserve the independence of the different departments depart-ments of the Government. A resolution to regulate the hours of labor throughout the Cnited States. A bill to establish a postal telegraph system in the United States. A bill to make the importation of immigrants under labor cjntracts un lawful. A bill to reform the civil service of the United States. A bill to establish a Territorial government gov-ernment in Alaska. Bills to admit as States in the Union the Territories of Colorado and New Mexico. A bill to make it a misdemeanor to sell munitions of war to a foreign government gov-ernment to use against another friendly government. A bill to establish a board of port wardens for the port of New Vork. A bill to aid the Kansas Pacific railway, rail-way, and also one for the construction of the Memphis and El Paso and the Midland Pacific railways. A bill to punish polygamy. A bill to reduce the rate of postage and to abolish the franking privilege. A bill to regulate the Government printing, and to do away with publication publi-cation of public documents for general distribution.
