Show I Baui.es are sweet little cherubs I when sleeping or enjoying a spell of (quietness. They are pleasant to have at home, and make sunshine when there is no storm shrieking nor rain of tears. Sometimes they seem a little out of place, as, for instance, at the theatre when an actor or actress is in a peculiarly interesting speech, quietness ' reigning throughout the building, and the dear darlings give utterance to spasmodic screams. About that time there is a somewhat general wish that I the little dears were safely and snugly tucked away in their cribs. Would the polite ushers request fond mothers, with the loveliest olive branches in the world, to keep them at home until they advance sufficiently in the study of their parts to wait for the cue ? We speak in behalf of an admiring yet somehow unappreciative public para-j para-j doxical as it may seem that loves ba- bies, but thinks the theatre is not the ! place for them. |
