Show THE GOLD DISCOVBRT AT I OGDES. , . ; Oar Special's Report. Failing to obtain satisfactory information in-formation of any detailed character by telegraph from Ogden, on Thursday night, we yesterday took measures to secure a special aud reliable report. Our reporter confirms, in part, the account ac-count furnished by our correspondent "Silex," whose communication will be found in another column. The location loca-tion of the gold discovery is not where the first account conveyed the impression impres-sion it was, up on the bench above Marshal Fife's lot, and which induced us to doubt the existence of "rich placer gold diggings" there. It is on the side of the bluff, a place that bears all the marks of long erosion by flftTm . J . , """'115 naLci, auu ftuere gui'J might be lodged. The quantity -o far obtained is limited but leads to the belief that there is more of it. The ground for a considerable distance dis-tance is taken up and many of the claims are recorded, the place being within a mining district organized in the summer of 1869. A laughable-piece laughable-piece of quiet larceny was perpetrated a couple of nights ago, when some careful care-ful souls of the "reform" persuasion, slyly wandered to the place at an hour when most folks were otherwise engaged, en-gaged, and helped themselves to some small scks of the auriferous dirt and gravel, that they might have & quiet wash and "prospect" all by themselves at home. Parties from Corinne and other places within reasonable distance dis-tance have arrived at the scene of excitement, ex-citement, " and the whole country around is likely to be quickly pros pected. As further facts are developed we shall place them before the public. Other items will be found in the letter by "Silex." - - - |
