Show HONOR TO THE DESERVING. The Democracy of tho Second Congressional Con-gressional District of Connecticut arc entitled to tho gratitude of all honest men vindicating tho purity of nomination nomina-tion in the recent election. The candidate- who was desired by most el' the Democrats in the district was Mr John il. Jngersoll; and his noiniiKitiuM was universally regarded as certain. . Rut after the delegates were eleeled, John Kendiick went around among them and bribed a sufficient suffi-cient number to give him their votes ; and when the Convention met, to the general surprise, he was made the candidate. can-didate. At this bribery and fraud the best men of the party revolted, voted against tho man who had bought tho nomination, and beat him so that the experiment of such curruption will not soon again be tried in that district. This example is worthy of universal imitation. If republican institutions are not to become a failure and a mockery mock-ery in this country, the buying of delegates del-egates and of voters must be put down. Good citizens everywhere should emulate emu-late this action of the Connecticut Democrats. X. Y. Sun. |
