Show - . Governor James A. Johnson. Governor James A. Johnson, of this city, has been very seriously sick for several sev-eral weekB. A serie3.of domestic afflictions afflic-tions in the death of relatives during the last year has seriously weighed upon his family, and has taxed to the limit all of his powers of mental and physical endurance. endur-ance. At last he temporarily broke under un-der the load and succumbed to painful nervous disorders which long baffled his physicians and gave rise to serious anxiety amongst his friends. For a long time callers have been excluded from his bedside, and the greatest precautions have been necessary to protect him against the affectionate attentions of his hosts of friends, which meant in kindness" were impossible f acceptance- by -reasotr of his serious state. He is now, we are glad to say, convalescent, but not yet are these necessary precautions relaxed for fear of a relapse. If all go well, he will soon be out and strong enoughto acknowledge acknowl-edge the friendly anxieties which have been aroused by his prolonged sickness. Alia California,.Dec. 1. |
