Show f AROUND ABOUT UTAH j The Prospects and Outlook of tire New i Lava District in Idaho < I John Halley Goes to Washington With i His Little Democratic Hatchet A Good Week for Nuggets in the C < pnr dAlene Country A Glance at the C avn District The first discoveries in the new district were made by Hugh McGraw and a young man who is quite widely known and readily responds to the soubriquet of 5 Whisky Bob They have several claims which show ore of the highest grade and are elated over their prospects Among the claims which are being worked and making excellent showing may be mentioned the Snowstorm and Henrietta owned by McGee Seamonds j Co the Ajax by Green and Cranston j and the Blue Jacket Tallapoosa and Monday by Armstrong Selkirk Co I Buchan Sawyer and Thompson have a group of four locations which show exceedingly i ex-ceedingly well native silver and chlorides chlor-ides being found in the float and crop pings The Gertie Vance owned by Mose Biddy is a magnificent prospect I showing in the croppings everything from pure silver down The Mollie Darling 1 Dar-ling Susie Dear and the Lulu Brown are I I also deserving of mention being considered consid-ered exceilnt prospects What a sentimental senti-mental lot of old bachelors the locators of these claims must be Think of an old baldheaded sinner to whom the amiable weakness would be supposed a stranger I deliberately recording mining claims under such names as Mollie Darling Mole Darlng Susie Dear etc Probably he wishes I to perpetuate the memory of the sweet illusions lusions of his youthful days or there may be still the anxious heart awaiting away back thar in Missouri Perhaps I i I it is some Johnny quite recently arrived and is smitten with the blandishments of 1 the Lost River girls But as the rose by I I any name would smell as sweet so I doubtless the Mole Darlings etc will I as true of wealth prove sources wealh to their I owners as i their nomenclature were suggestive I sug-gestive of the Monte Cristo fable or all I the richness of umuz and of Ind Some fine prospects have been found j I I on Fish creek and on the head of Cottonwood I Cot-tonwood creek but their value is yet undetermined i un-determined though many fine specimens i i of goldbearing quartz have been found i I there A townsite known as Gem City j has been laid out somewhere on Antelope creek though but little is known of its whereabouts as not even a whisky joint 3et marks the spot I The mineral belt is small and has been closely prospected leaving slight i chances for newcomers to catch on to anything cropping out but there are fine opportunities for those who are able to prospect for blind ledges and many I valuable interests can be bought very cheaply Woml River Times 1st t |
