Show Judge Powers Appointment. As will be seen in to-day's Washington dispatches, the appointment of Judge Powers for Judge of the First Judicial District of Utah has been sent to the Senate Sen-ate for confirmation. The news occasioned not a little surprise on the street, as from the President's delay in the matter, it had been looked upon as morally certain cer-tain that the appointment would be tabled indefinitely. Some were heard to express the opinion to-day, that the President's hesitation would be taken for a tacit discountenance, dis-countenance, and that the Senate will act accordingly. ' . - . |
