Secretary Turner, of the Executive Committee of the Knights of Labor, having stated yesterday in St. Louis that Mr. Hoxie was not acting in conformity con-formity with the terms of the agreement entered into at the New York conference, Mr Gould was to-day interviewed upon the Bubject and said: "The stenographer's notes at the New York conference show that there was no agreement direct or implied that the company would take all the men back with some comparatively few exceptions. excep-tions. On the contrary they show that not one of the committee expected the company com-pany to take back any men not needed or any who had anything to do with the damage to the property of the company or ''"'. the obstruction to the running of its trains. Mr. Powderly said if the company would supply him with the names of these lawbreakers law-breakers they would be expelled from the Order, and, to use the words of one of the committee, kept out of it forever." Foote, Senior, Of New York, publishes his announcement announce-ment in the daily Democrat every batur-day. Perils of Yonnff Men. Now that the picnic season is about to commence, parents cannot be too careful of their sons. Parents should remember that their boys, in going to a picnic, also go through tunnels, and a tunnel is dangerous dan-gerous to a young man, unless the girl in charge of him be ladylike enough to refrain re-frain from those familiarities to which many picnic-going females are given. A designing 3Toung woman, in conjunction with ice-cream, picnic lemonade and shady spots under the trees, subjects a young man to influences which may have anything but an elevating effect upon his character. Point out to them the beneficial bene-ficial effects of wood-sawing upon the muscles and the mind. Take them out to the graveyard on Sunday and read Fox's Book of Martyrs to them. Keep a dog in the front yard and warn the girls off. In order to make this warning effective effect-ive the fence should be high and have spikes along the top of it. WTien a young women asks your boy to go to a picnic, see to it that she is Bteady, sober and industrious, in-dustrious, before you entrust your child to . her, and bind her by a solemn oath to return your darling boy safe to you. . .
