The massacre began on the morning of April 16 at approximately am a.m. when Cho allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend ex-girlfriend and a resident advisor in inthe inthe inthe the West Amber Johnston Hall dormitories on the campus of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg Va College and local officials sai said in jn a press conf conference rence that they thought the first shooting was an isolated incident of domestic violence and that it didn't warrant the need to the campus campus allowing students and staff to continue arriving on campus Two hours later around 9 IS am a.m. gunshots rang out again on the opposite side of the VT campus in Norris Morris Hall a classroom building that houses the engineering department Cho allegedly chained the exit door shut before he entered classrooms shooting fellow students and faculty at random Killing 29 and injuring ISmore 15 IS more he eventually turned t the e gun on himself Local officials also said that they believed Cho returned to his on-campus on dorm room during the two hours that separated the incidents There he procured an additional firearm and more ammunition before going to Norris Hall on the opposite side of campus
