Major items discussed included the ap- propiation budget request for social services in the State of Utah for 1988-89- ; current legislation affecting aging and adults services; and an evaluation of current services provided in the state. Things were clicking for the Wolves in basketball last week as they pulled together and defeated South Sevier and Gunnison to improve their region seating record to These were two very important games for us, and we pulled so the last minute crusade was made with four fouls hanging over his head. Craig Gladwell. The first of the wins came against a tough and well seasoned South Sevier team. It was very close and intense. North Sevier, with one minute o" the clock was down by five, and Steve Christensen hit one to pull within three. South Sevier then went into their stall game. Out of necessity the Wolves fouled and sent a South Sevier player to the line who had hit 9 of 10 foul shots for the day. The Wolves returned home on Friday to play Gunnison. North Sevier defeated the Bulldogs, 60to 52. The match up zone defense that Gunnison played finally took hold late in the first half when North 4-- 2. Peace, Love, Light A good balance of the four basic needs for a happy and fulfilled life are necessary. We find at Richfield Care Center as we strive to bring our patients to their maximum potential in daily living, that it is very important to provide physical, mental, social and spiritual activities. Lets consider the importance of social activities for personal wellness. W e are social beings. W e grow up in family units. W e live in cities and towns. And we Americans are a United States just as are other countries who unite for the benefit or detriment of the whole group. Christian people teach with emphasis personal concern for serving and enriching others lives. We need to have friends and be able to serve others for their good and for our own good. It seems that those of our patients who do not have regular visits from family, neighbors, and friends, do not progress as fast in their rehabilitation as those who do. Service and involvement with others is what were about as a human family. You know how much better you feel when you are invovled socially. Our self worth and purpose of daily living seems to be enhanced as we perform worthy tasks with and for others. This factor seems to be even stronger in our senior citizen population. Thats quite obvious, isnt it? Were so very active as youth and young adults, and then, all of a sudden, someone decides we need to retire. There is a real void. All of us should be more sensitive to the fact that we dont stop socializing just because were 65, or 75, or 95. I urge bur readers who are seniors, or who have family, friends or neighbors who are seniors, to help with continual seriously needed socialization. Visit regularly and often. Set up or continue with clubs or neighborhood parties often. Give your senior family member or friends specific responsible assignments or projects. If youre a senior, force yourself to get out of the house and visit friends. Check on a list of friends each day. Organize a book club, or dinner club. Go on a mission for your church. Your social relationships are critical to mental, physical and spiritual health for your personal happiness and well being. The Board members are public spirited citizens who understand the relationship of soil, water, plants, and animals. They donate many hours of service to fulfill district duties. However, Division of Wildlife Officer, Fred Pannunzio, assured his friends that he was just getting them trained to pick up his morning mail. W ildlife officials throughout the state are worried that .the heavy snow and sub zero temperatures may cause a heavy loss in the areas wildlife population. We need to use the experience under our belt and play good ball, Gladwell commented. 55-5- were fighting for your life Gladwell said he was elated with the points to only 5. This momentum on Gunnisons side stayed active throughout the 3rd quarter when they finaly tied the score at 42 all. But from here the Wolves hit their foul shots and stretched the lead to finish the game ahead. Double figure scorers for North Sevier were Brandon Kiesel with 20 and Steve Christensen wtih 13, and Jason Nielson with 10. We played like we were tied against Gunnison because of the intensity of the game played earlier with South Sevier, said Gladwell. He felt the games went a long way in preparing the young Wolf team for the Region Tournament coming up in a couple of week. This week the W olves will play Richfield in Richfield, on Thursday, due to the Region Wrestling tournament to be held on Saturday. They have to be concerned with fouled. With 23 seconds on the clock he sank both shots, and the W olves pulled to within one point. North Sevier fouled the Rams with about 20 seconds left. They made one but missed the second. Steve Christensen shot again and made the three pointer to pull ahead by one. The Rems panicked at the line and with 8 seconds left on the clock they three the ball in bounds to Steve Christensen. This was called an intentional foul and Steve made them both, plus the Wolves regained position of the ball. Once again the ball went to Steve and he was fouled again. This time he made the first ot two shots and the buzzer ended the game. Steve had made the last 8 points for the W olves to pull them ahead and maintain the lead for the 1 win. Gladwell said that Steve had been pulled earlier from the game to sit on the bench with four fouls ON THE WAY UP: The North Sevier Wolves won both of their games last week, boosting their record for the upcoming Region play.
