Its purpose is to enhance and protect land and water resources on private lands. It is governed by a board of elected direction, priority, and support to governmental land and water protection programs. Board decisions are made in meetings open to the public. Elections are in progress to fill two positions on each of the states 38 SCD boards. Candidates were chosen by a local nominating committee in each SCD.
