Show BP W outlines H her er civic activities in past ten T n years if at times a group of ambitious women have seemed over enthusiastic to put over projects and have sought the support of city officials and business houses on many occasions ca their efforts have not been in vain as the long list of 0 civic enterprises contributions and projects for the betterment of the community show so that people may know their cooperation has not been wasted arid and the club has achieved a great deal in the past ten years we take lake pleasure in submitting the follon following outline of activities june 30 1927 the sum of proceeds from a dance at victory park was turned over to the roosevelt city council for the benefit of the roosevelt city park fund june 1927 assisted the commercial club in entertaining the utah state press association july 12 1927 tickets for a baseball dance were distributed to club members who conducted a campaign to help the baseball team november 1927 sponsored an athletic club which was open to all women april 5 1928 presented 1800 to principal watts of the high school to help pay expenses of I 1 one act play cast who contested in state dramatic tournament at provo this money was part of the proceeds received from the presentation of a play and raffling off of a floor lamp won at ai the state convention for being the bosl active club of the year november 1928 sponsored a pep banquet at duchesne to stir up enthusiasm for the organization to of a club there the club was later established march 6 1929 donated the sum of to the city co council uncil for the purpose of installing an electric siren this money was part of the proceeds of a play given by the club at roosevelt and neola may 1929 the club responded to a call made by mayor C I 1 johnson for funds to help tile the siddal family the sum of was collected 42 was paid to the miles hospital for medical aid and the remainder retained until the city council had call for same I 1 september 1929 conducted a campaign to see that all women voters were registered thus stimulated interest in the election in november december 18 1929 the club banquet was dispensed with wit th and the club sponsored a santa clause and a free picture show for the kiddies april 7 1930 arrangements were made for the installation of a drinking fountain at the corner of main and lagoon streets which I 1 was presented to the city cost costa S 1750 january 7 1931 the smal ru rugs S mi mirror aror and table used in the club room were given to the high school to furnish the girls dressing room january 7 1931 the student loan fund was established which has aided approximately ten local eirls eirls through college or vocational school hool f december 1931 A large be box of clothing was collected and turned over to the high school for the benefit of the needy girls of the school december 1931 pledged per month to the parent teachers association for the hot lunch project being carried out in the school march 1932 sponsored week club women took over the city offices and ran them for a period of six hours conducted yn excellent meeting for the pubic at which lethe coleman was the speaker she also addressed students of the high school april 13 1932 presented ted the play lies half of the proceeds amounting to 1300 were given to the high school to help defray expenses incurred when the band went to price to compete in a state contest april 28 1932 presented the play the second time and half the proceeds which amounted to 1500 went to the committee for making work for the unemployed may 1932 donated 2000 to to the lions club to help meet the deficit on the right of way fw of the neola roosevelt road september 1932 donated to help pay freight freig h t on red cross f lour flour february 1933 donated 1000 to the high school athletic department for the purchase of sweat shirts for the basketball team march 1933 sponsored a formal tea for the benefit of the graduating girls of the high school sponsored an interesting meeting for the general gc nc ral public at which miss lethe coleman was the speaker october 1933 contributed a sum to the high school band for expenses incurred during the summer |
